The appearance of your bathroom sink can really make a difference in how your bathroom looks as a whole. However, you might not have the extra cash lying around to replace your sink, even if it looks less than its best. Luckily, there are ways that you can make your bathroom sink look like new again without replacing it. These are a few tips to try.
1. Have it Repaired
Don't assume that just because a sink is cracked or otherwise damaged means that it has to be replaced. Someone who specializes in sink repair can often fix cracks and other imperfections. You can also hire a plumber to take a look at any plumbing issues and repair them. Once your sink is in fully functioning condition, you can start working on making it look great again.
2. Paint It
Did you know that you can actually paint your sink? With a fresh coat of paint, many bathroom sinks look fresh and new again. You will want to be careful, however, since you won't want to use just any paint to paint your sink. Instead, head to a local hardware store, and look for a paint that is designed to be used on ceramic surfaces. Before you get started, you'll want to make sure that you clean your sink thoroughly. Then, after allowing it to dry completely, use steel wool over the entire surface to make it easier for the primer and paint to stick. Use a ceramic primer, then apply coats of paint until the sink looks like you want it to. You can paint it in the same color that it is now, or you can look for a new color to give your bathroom a whole new look. Just make sure that you tape off your countertops so that you don't get any paint on them while working on this project.
3. Replace Your Faucet
Simply replacing your sink's faucet is a great way to upgrade your home, and if you follow the instructions, you might be able to install it yourself. You can find them at hardware stores and home improvement stores in many different styles, and you can even look for a faucet that is designed for water conservation to help reduce the amount of water that your family uses.
As you can see, making your sink look great again doesn't have to involve a full replacement. Instead, you can follow these tips to make your bathroom sink look new for less.Share
